24 HOUR PAINTING AND COMPOSITION PROJECT – “CIRCLES”
Friday 23rd October 2009, 18.00 - 21.00
Saturday 24th October 2009, 14.00 - 18.00

Ivanov + Chan and composer James Hesford
will complete the 6th work of a series of an international site-specific collaboration created during a 24hour non stop period at the Horse Hospital, London.
(Previous sites include Berlin, Papa Westray (Orkney), London – River Thames)
The Canvas - a suspended round tent - like structure enclosing the artist for a non stop 24 hour period.
The Composition - created at the same time period and site for 12 musicians in a 50 meter diameter circle.
The Video - created as an interaction with the Circle Performance.
Viewing the Circle Experience - After 24 hour’s performance the viewer can enter the Circle.
A completed recording of the composition and score will be presented.

WCMO (WORKING CLASSICAL MUSIC ORCHESTRA) - JAMES' BAND

Cellorhythmics WCMO ( Working Classical Music Orchestra) return to the Horse Hospital after two years of performing their groundbreaking Cellorhythmics Acoustic Project featuring eleven exceptional musicians from the worlds of jazz, classical and experimental pop. Their next venture - "Squeaky Singles" - is a multifarious blend of 50's and 60's pop instrumentals, contemporary classical and jazz condensed into a 3 minute pop single format. Also featuring guest artists - "Dave Hindermiff and the Tritones" and Andrew Bailey, an extraordinary surreal comedian, who will join WCMO for the premier of "Nine Bagatelles for Chamber Group, bingo caller and terminally ill patient". ALSO CHIARA AMBROSIO'S NEW FILM PRODUCED BY MICHAEL NYMAN -


"CHARON".
Charon, the mythic demon sailor over the river Styx, sets off on a journey to recover his mortality. He renounces his role as ferryman for the dead and sails away on a sea of oblivion in search for the archetypical home, the mythical place of his childhood where he can finally abandon his boat and die.
This film is about memory, mortality and time.

PICNIC 09: RIVER THAMES
by Land Art - Papa Westray and Hermitage Moorings
The Circle - River Thames is a river-specific collaboration work between artists IVANOV + CHAN and composer James Hesford which will be created during 24-hours non-stop working period/performance at Hermitage Moorings, River Thames.

The Circle - River Thames will be:
- The James Hesford's composition will be influenced by the immediate environment, the extreme working conditions imposed by a specific duration and IVANOV + CHAN'S performance and working process.
- The Artist’s Dress - a costume for the performance which will enhance the choreography of the performance and will work as an additional tool in painting process
- The Painting Space - around tent – lantern structure made of canvas suspended in the floating Pier House of the Moorings
- The Painting Dance – spontaneous choreography of the painting process reflecting the way in which the memories and process are affected by 24 hours non-stop action in enclosed space
- Painting - instant reaction on the memories about the surrounding of The Circle and memories transformed inside The Circle during the process, following by the flow and transforming all previous experience creating paint-environment
- Video Work is created as an interaction with the Circle Performace
and projected live
- Viewing the Circle Experience: After 24 hours performance the viewer can enter the Circle
- Presentation of completed composition of The Circle-River Thames by James Hesford
